Planning the room
Bathrooms are small rooms with no simple details.
A bathroom brings structure, plumbing, electrical work, ventilation, waterproofing, tile, glass, cabinetry, and lighting into a compact space. Every layer affects the next. JackStone plans those relationships before the finish work begins so the room is not designed one isolated decision at a time.
Fixture locations, wall cavities, floor height, shower geometry, storage, lighting, and door clearances all need to work together. Existing conditions are reviewed first, because a durable solution depends on what is behind the surfaces as much as what is visible afterward.

Built beneath the tile
Waterproofing is a system, not a finish.
Tile and grout are the visible surface of a shower, but they are not the complete water-management system. The substrate, seams, penetrations, corners, slope, and connection to the drain all need to be prepared in the correct sequence before tile is installed.

- The open room is reviewed for framing, plumbing, electrical, ventilation, and substrate conditions before rough work and waterproofing move forward.
- How do you approach shower waterproofing?
- The wet area is treated as a complete assembly, including the prepared substrate, seams, corners, penetrations, slope, drain connection, and required curing sequence.
- Can the layout or plumbing locations change?
- Often yes, but feasibility depends on the structure, building conditions, utility access, code requirements, and the value the change adds to the room.
- Do you remodel bathrooms in high-rise buildings?
- Yes. JackStone has experience coordinating protection, access, building logistics, and constrained wall conditions in Chicago high-rise work.
